Jerry Barnum, who is the President of Victor Distributing has been
with the company since the beginning. Founders Ross "Sam" and Annie Karns hired Jerry in 1965
to work as a salesman. In those days the company was so small that you often had more than one
job description. Jerry found himself working in the warehouse, pulling orders, unloading freight,
making deliveries, sweeping floors and picking up trash.
On top of all of that, he also manned
the counter, answered phones and made outside sales calls. In 1984 then CEO Sam Karns approached
Jerry about someday taking over the company, which had grown tremendously. Sam was very confident
in Jerry's abilities as he had over the years, become a well rounded and experienced businessman.
Sam and Annie retired in 1986, and Jerry officially took the reigns of the ever growing company.
Since becoming President, Jerry Barnum has made several good business decisions, and surrounded
himself with many gifted, knowledgeable and dedicated employees. Not only has this helped make
his job easier, but it has also allowed the company to flourish over the last fifteen years.
